In order to promote the development of critical illness academics and build a broader academic exchange platform, the (2020) Beijing Critical Care Academic Salon hosted by Suzhou Engin Bio-medical Electronics Co., Ltd. and co-organized by Beijing Xinde Jiaye Technology Co., Ltd. was grandly held in Beijing on October 15th.

The experts and guests in attendance included Professor Xi Xiuming, Fuxing Hospital, Capital Medical University, Professor Ma Penglin, Eighth Medical Center of PLA General Hospital, Professor Li Wenxiong, Beijing Chaoyang Hospital, Capital Medical University, Professor Chao Yangong, First Affiliated Hospital of Tsinghua University, Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University  Professor Chen Wenjin, Professor Hou Xiaotong from Beijing Anzhen Hospital of Capital Medical University, Professor Zhan Qingyuan from China-Japan Friendship Hospital and more than 30 experts in the field of critical illness.

Professor Xi Xiuming was invited as the chairperson of the conference, and Professor Ma Penglin and Professor Li Wenxiong were the guests.  The academic conference was conducted simultaneously online and offline, and Professor Xi Xiuming gave a wonderful opening speech.

In the most exciting academic lecture, experts have conducted a relatively comprehensive and in-depth discussion on the clinical application value of NIRS brain oxygen/tissue oxygen in the field of severe illness by sharing academic literature, clinical cases, and treatment experience.

First, Professor Chao Yangong from the Department of Critical Care Medicine of the First Affiliated Hospital of Tsinghua University shared the topic of "The Clinical Application of NIRS Tissue Oxygen in Multimodal Monitoring".

Based on Professor Chao's long-term research on international advanced treatment concepts in critical care medicine, he has deep insights into the treatment of multiple critically ill patients with multimodal monitoring.  Professor Chao shared real cases of successful treatment of patients with old myocardial infarction combined with cerebral infarction with difficulty in weaning and patients with multiple injuries combined with severe head injury using multimodal monitoring. He pointed out that for some severe patients, the brain TOI and THI measured by NIRS,  Limb TOI, THI, combined with other indicators, combined with clinical problems, can improve efficiency and effectiveness to a certain extent.  Finally, Professor Chao concluded that NIRS is widely used in critical care clinical monitoring, and the integration of multi-modal data and practical processes can boost the development of critical care medicine.

The second expert to share the academic topic is Professor Chen Wenjin from the Neurosurgery ICU of Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University. The topic shared is "Aims and Goals of Clinical Intervention for Neurocritical Diseases".

Professor Chen gave a wonderful and humorous lecture for everyone through his profound medical skills and unique humor.  By pointing out the intersection of neuro-critical precision medicine, how to conduct clinical treatment is based and more scientific, it is necessary to know how to best treat patients, which leads to sometimes "we don’t know whether we are measuring the right things in the right way.  "So the necessity of the combined application of multiple methods is very prominent.  Subsequently, Professor Chen shared several case reports, introducing examples of how to use NIRS correctly, how to correctly interpret NIRS data, and how to combine NIRS with TCD, ICP, and aEEG in certain situations.

The third academic topic "The clinical application of NIRS tissue oxygen monitoring in ECMO" was shared by Professor Xiaotong Hou, Director of the Cardiac Surgery Critical Care Center of Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Capital Medical University.

In order to let more doctors fully understand the basic knowledge of NIRS, Professor Hou theoretically introduced the physiological indicators that the NIRS tissue oxygen monitor can provide, the basic principles of NIRS, the advantages of NIRS technology, etc., and shared relevant international academic research.  , And explained the important value and guiding significance of NIRS in ECMO patients' brain oxygen and lower limb blood oxygen monitoring through vivid real cases.  Finally, Professor Hou emphasized that it is necessary to accurately grasp the positioning of NIRS and apply it in combination with other indicators in order to exert its true clinical application value.

The two host guests made wonderful comments to the guest speakers in turn, and at the same time organized a lively discussion on the issues related to the clinical application of NIRS online and offline.

Near the end of the conference, Mr. Ju Ning, the vice president of Aegean Medical Technology Operations, reviewed the history of Aegean’s deep cultivation and continuous development in the field of brain science through a series of short videos, expressing the hope that he can stand on the shoulders of giants and continue to move forward and organize oxygen in the NIRS  The monitoring field has always become a leading international national medical device brand.

This academic salon provides a valuable academic exchange platform for medical staff in the field of critical illness. The academic content is brilliant, the venue is full of seats, more than 6000 people attend the conference online, face-to-face communication with critical illness experts, and share the field of severe NIRS monitoring at home and abroad  Academic progress.
